What is OpenClaw?

OpenClaw is a local-first personal AI assistant built around a single Gateway that routes between LLMs, messaging channels, and tools. You run it once, connect the apps you already use, and it lives on every platform at the same time — reachable from whichever inbox you happen to open.

Under the hood it ships as a Node.js package with a CLI onboarding wizard, a plugin system, and first-class tools for browser, cron, and a live Canvas for agent-driven work. LaunchPod provisions it with the latest release on a fresh Ubuntu 24.04 VM, no Docker involved.

How it works on LaunchPod

LaunchPod installs the latest openclaw release via npm on your dedicated VM and wires the Gateway behind a Cloudflare tunnel. When you open the browser terminal for the first time, the interactive onboarding wizard runs automatically so you can paste your LLM key and connect your first channel in a couple of minutes.
